Transition into autumn

So school is starting again for my foster brother on Tuesday which is, for me anyway, the first sign that Autumn is here, whatever the weather is saying. So, with that in mind I have been looking at my wardrobe, getting ready to make that autumn transition. Usually the transition isn't that big, air out some of my larger jumpers, maybe swap my summer duvet for the bigger one but generally speaking English summers aren't that different to English autumns, or even winters so I don't have that much shopping to do. This year, however, we have had a GLORIOUS summer so I haven't really bought anything cold weather appropriate. So I have a bit of a wishlist here, my transition into autumn wishlist...

Beauty Empties Video

My first ever beauty empties video is up! I'm very proud of this fact, both the fact that the video is up & that I actually filmed it. You would not believe the day/week/life I have been having....it included a moth getting into my Urban Decay Naked palette, horrendously clogged pores & my mother re-decorating. Plus the beginning of crazy hormones & PMS. Seemingly my body is not coping well with M.E. & now monthly female things are horrendous....
Anyway, this is the video. Enjoy

OOTD: Summer Victoriana

I am so sorry I have been neglecting you guys, it has been a crazy few days. Flaring + my mum starting to decorate my foster brother's room have combined to create a horrendous blend of craptastic-ness. I started filming 3 times before I gave up & I really tried to write but I guess I just needed a break.
Anyway I'm back with an outfit of the day featuring my trusty parasol. This year has been so sunny & sometimes my skin just will not tolerate anything, including suncream...hence the parasol. It also looks really cool & fits in with my love of victoriana/steampunk fashion....

M.E. on holiday

I was recently asked to write a blog post on - well basically M.E. on holiday I guess. What it's like to have M.E. on holiday & I guess how to cope with having M.E....
So I wasn't really sure what I should write. I mean I know how I managed my M.E. & how it impacted on my holiday but every person is effected by their chronic illness differently & every person's holiday is different. But I guess I'm not really trying to write the definitive guide on how to cope with M.E. & holidays. I'm just writing my stuff & the things I learnt etc.
So here goes...

French Food Haul

I went on holiday to France... you may have noticed. I am writing a post about what it was like, my M.E. & how I coped so if you are the person who asked for that don't worry, it's coming soon. I just want it to be right. This is a french food haul & I kinda went crazy with food shopping.
Mind you I am watching that Directioners documentary right now, so crazy is feeling very subjective. I really want to give them all a hug, & maybe a little bit of a slap...

Anyway. This is my french food haul, & french drinks haul. If you'd seen my brother's haul you'd be awed by the amount that fits in my mum's tiny little Honda Jazz - those things are Tardis equivalent. Back to the point I am trying to make which is all about my haul. French food is iconic & really really good. I watch a lot of food network with being really really ill & having not that much to do with my life.... Food TV is insanely soothing. ANYWAY! Watching a lot of food network means I have seen a lot of barefoot contessa & so french food/ingredients subliminally become this big deal.
So when I got to France, french food was as exciting as french skincare which as a beauty nut is saying something.

French Pharmacy Skincare Haul

So I went on holiday, you may have noticed. So I kind of went on a shopping spree, I was hoping to go to a Sephora - cause they have those in France & they don't in England so they are super exciting to me - but I didn't get the oppertunity to so I went French pharmacy skincare CRAZY.
You have to watch the video to see the extent to which I went crazy, but I got multiple of most things including not one, not two but...3 bottles of Serozinc. Yeah, I have a problem but I love France & if I get hooked on French skincare & then have to go there more often I will definately not be upset ^^

Car journey entertainment

I went on holiday last week, as you may notice soon from the huge number of blog posts that will be coming soon. We went to Normandy, which is a long journey from Leeds - overnight on the Hull-Zebrugge ferry & then a long drive through France. I loved it, I struggle for energy on long journeys but we were going on holiday. But my foster brother is not able to keep himself entertained for more than about 6 seconds. Plus he is a lot younger than the rest of us - mentally more than physically - so the car games that we would cope with playing for 6 hours are not the ones he would want to play for 6 hours. He can't even cope with I-Spy for more than half an hour!
I did a lot of research for travel activities & if I'm honest I wasn't impressed. There were lots of technology recommendations & talking games involving word puzzles etc. There wasn't that much for little kids or suggestions to help kids entertain themselves. So I made some stuff..

Botanics Cleansing Balm

I have heard a lot about cleansig balms after reading Caroline Hiron's blog & so decided I should probably try one. Cleansing balms are pretty expensive though so I thought I'd try this one from Boots Botanics. It's the Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm & it's only £8 so I wasn't expecting great things if I'm honest. I just wanted to see if there was anything to this whole cleansing balm thing. So, what do I think of it?

Holiday Beauty Prep

It's been a while since I went on my last proper holiday (not as long as for some people, it was just before I got sick though), & it's even longer since I went on my last beach/swimming pool type holiday.
I am left for a holiday in Normandy yesterday (if blogger doesn't ignore my scheduling again) & have decided that for this holiday I am going to take a bikini which is leaving me in a little bit of a flat spin. I have had body issues from being quite young & have always worn horrible one piece outfits, preferably with men's board shorts over them. Yeah, I was that girl.
I did own a bikini once before but I never worked up the nerve to wear it...
This year I have bought a bikini & I thoroughly intend to wear it & look darn good in it & to that end I have been doing some prep work.
