Weekly Obsessions 3: Books, Belts & Black Friday

Okay, like I said, last week I am getting crazy into blogging. Whenever I am wanting to do a thing properly, I do research hence one of my obsessions - 'Blogging Your Way to the Front Row' by Yuli Ziv. Not that that's my only obsession, apparently waist belts are back *commence the embarrassing Chandler dancing*, oh yeah & it's Black Friday today & John Lewis has a sale!
So I'm going to start with the books....apologies for the iPhone photograph.

Turkey and Cranberry Sausage Rolls - Low Fat, Healthy Christmas

I know I'm British & we don't have Thanksgiving....officially but you guys know how much I love American style food so I did a thanksgiving feast on Sunday & went a little mental with the food. This is something I came up with that I thought you guys would appreciate. It is very simple to make & it is great for Thanksgiving, Christmas Parties & even New Year. Honestly you could make it anytime of year & it'd be fabulous.
I also made these as meatballs (so no pastry at all) which makes them a great, low fat snack or holiday food. It'd be great for people who are wanting to do a healthy Christmas.
They are also really, really easy to make. It's basically an assembly job; soak some dried cranberries in bourbon, add some flavourings to the turkey mince & then put the mixture inside shop bought pastry & bake. Yeah, bourbon. I'm loving this recipe.

Decoration-a-Day Advent Calendar

As I said in the advent calendar shopping guide, I love me an advent calendar. They are possibly my favourite bit of Christmas....actually, almost certainly. So having seen all the awesome DIY advent calendars on Pinterest I realised I HAD to make a DIY calendar but I didn't have that much time left when about 3 weeks ago I realised that Christmas was coming & making an advent calendar should be probably be done soon.

This isn't exactly the best photo of the calendar I made but I had to put it up in the living room which is painted lime green...

Post Round-up

I have never done anything like this before...I don't usually write enough posts for this to be relevant but this week I have been all over the internet (including my first ever guest post over on I Am Into This).

So from Monday onwards I guess....

Weekly Obsessions 2 - Blogging, TV & More

I love doing these, I may do them forever...
Oh & I have been totally obsessed with blogging theory/books. I am a nerd, I know but when I get into something I go for it 100% & so I am going for blogging 100%. I'm pathetic....
I've been reading 'Food Photography for Bloggers' by Matt Armendariz, it's amazing & not just for food bloggers. I am persistently nervous about the quality of my photos, & this book has everything in it you will ever need to know.
There are so many more blogging related things I've been obsessed with but I'm pretty sure you'll be hearing all about them over the next few weeks....

What to do when you are flaring

Flaring is one of those (pardon my French) shitty bits of being ill that makes all the rest pale in comparison. You guys know what I'm talking about, when your symptoms are at the worst & you feel equal parts black-out drunk/hung-over....just me?

I know I get crazy bored when I am flaring, there never seems to be enough to do that doesn't make you feel worse, so this video gathers up all the flaring activities I do & puts them in one place...

Christmas Gift Guide: Advent Calendars

Anybody else think the best bit of Christmas is the advent calendar? Just me?
Whatever your feelings about them, I think it is very appropriate that the first post in my Christmas series is all about Advent Calendars. I have a whole month of Christmas crazy planned, including a DIY advent calendar, festive baking, gift guides & maybe a lookbook. But for now, whether it's for you or not, here are this years best ways to count down to Christmas.
Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar. I got this for my brother as a birthday present (he may be 19 but he is a nerd so...Lego + Star Wars = nerd-vana) & it is so cute!

OOTD: Pastel Harvest

I guess you are getting a bonus fashion post this week, lucky you guys.
So, I joined the Independent Fashion Blogger community this week. The website is amazing, it has a great amount of info on blogging & fashion, & it's got an amazing wealth of inspiration. They had this great post where you post an autumn pastel look & they do a round up of the best ones.
You guys know how much I love pastels/nudes all year round, so I thought this was perfect for me & I went for it.
I know these photos aren't sat down or in my wheelchair like usual but that's just how the photos went & don't they look lovely? I tried out golden hour photography & I LOVE it.

Winter Makeup Edit

The way that my makeup is stored means that the makeup that I'm not regularly using is kind of out of the way, like the way you might store out of season clothing. So, like out of season clothing, every 6 months or so I need to go through & do the Spring/Summer to Autumn/Winter swap.
I've been meaning to do this for months but a lot of the colours I use all year round are Autumn/Winter-y enough, like how a lot of my clothes get worn all year round...
Anyway, these are the makeup items I finally pulled out of my collection that I only wear in winter.

Weekly Obsessions 1 - Steampunk & Christmas

This is a new little feature I am thinking of running, just a round up of things I've been loving in the week. It could be anything, as I think this weeks will show - my obsessions have ranged from books to adverts & everything in between.
The thing I have been most obsessed by has to be Gail Carriger's most recent book series, 'The Finishing School Series'.

Autumn/Fall/Thanksgiving Makeup look

I know I'm posting about YouTube twice in a row but from now one it'll be a Wednesday only thing, okay? Okay. So this is a makeup look I've been wearing loads recently. If you look closely at my fashion video, it makes a not that brief appearance....lol

So the basis is a strong, leaf toned eye look & a warm, neutral cheek & lip look....
It's a bit out there for me with a winged liner & a pop of colour. It even has a thick under-eye liner which is something I almost never do...it works though :)
What do you guys think? Would you ever try this look?

P.S. It's my little brother's birthday today...just thought I'd mention so that he doesn't think I've forgotten :)

Autumn Fashion - Check

Hi guys, so in my giveaway some of you said you wanted to see more fashion videos which reminded me how much perfectly normal people appreciate wheelchair fashion advice - I'd gotten so used to it only being gross perverts watching my videos that I forgot about the rest of you. I am so sorry about that, I have a whole string more fashion videos planned & hopefully they will be better edited :)
Do you have any requests for future fashion videos? Is there anything you'd like to see my take on?

Sweet Things by Annie Rigg

You might know I've been getting into sweet making & I've been loving it. I was looking for more recipes (marshmallow gets old after a while) when I stumbled across this AMAZING book in Waterstones.
It is the most perfect sweet book, shabby chic fashion & classy sweets with beautiful images & great recipes all the way through.
