Top 5 Red Lipstick

Okay so I am a huge red lipstick lover. I have easily 15 red lipsticks. Actually I think my first ever lipstick was a red lipstick...maybe not but I know I've been wearing red lipsticks for almost the same amount of time I've been wearing makeup...(8 years).
I have come a long way since my first red lipstick, which was one of my mum's reds from the 80's - it was a very 80s red. Not attractive at all...
In this post I am going to talk about MY favourite reds, so these colours won't be for everyone. Red lipsticks are one of those makeup products (like foundation) where undertones are really important. As a general rule of thumb -

OOTD: Winter Polka Dots

I really need to get my hair cut...cute outfit though. This worked out really well I think; cute shirt, cute jumper, nice jeans & ballet pumps. Weirdly I got all the stuff from

Random Geek-ery: Loncon 3 a.k.a. Worldcon 2014

Anyone who knows me in real life will be aware that I am a huge nerd/geek/fan-girl. Yes that is the official term. No I'm not embarrassed. What I mean by this is that I am academic & I totally in love with the whole nerd world. Fantasy, sci-fi, comic books, games, steampunk, films, table top RPGs... You name it, I have an interest. I may not have the 'training' or the range of some ppl but in my specialty areas I am pretty good (my main specialty area being Urban Fantasy novels with few vampire characters).
With this in mind it is no surprise that I have a yen to go to Comic-Con. It's written into my DNA, like my desire to visit CERN or to do a PhD. Obviously, like the others, my M.E. has made the actual experience unlikely (I didn't manage to finish my A-Levels, I'm not going to get a PhD & I'm not sure CERN is that accessible). Thankfully WorldCon (Comic-Con's less well known, much more fun, older brother) is going to be in London this year & I got membership ages ago for my brother & I.
I am sure I am going to post about Loncon3 (as the Convention is called) again before it happens & definitely after, but I thought I'd do a big post about how excited I am etc...
I am so cool....lmao

Beginners Makeup Kit Part 2 - Moving On

I told you that last weeks video was going to be part of a series, well this is part 2 - the bits of makeup which aren't so much basics but they are what I'd get right after the basics....can I say basic anymore? Basic McBasicson.....Basic squared.....Basic to the power of infinity.....basically I am going to stop saying basic now but you get the basic point I am basically trying to make....basically.
Wow I am out of it today.
As with last time links & alternatives after the 'read more'

DIY: Superfood Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Everyone knows how to make a scrub right? You mix oil with sugar/salt & done. So why is mine any different? Well mine contains ginger, orange zest & juice, brown sugar & canola (rapeseed) oil which are all incredible for your skin....I wish I had planned it, I had no idea until I started writing this post!
I made this because I wanted a treat - something luxurious that was cheap & I could make at home with things that were already in the house. Can you tell it's January?
I also wanted to see what I could do about this weird skin thing I get on the top of my arms. I hoped that by making a sugar scrub with some acid in it would have dual exfoliating action & finally get rid of whatever it is that's wrong with my arms. Well it seems to be working + it smells great!
So I started off with 2 cups brown sugar, 1/4 cup rapeseed oil (aka canola oil - you can use any oil, this is just what I had in a pretty bottle) & the zest of 1 orange & half the juice. Then I added a grated piece of ginger about the width of a pound coin because it smelt good. Apparently all this stuff is awe-inspiringly good for the skin (I am still really shocked how much these ingredients do for your skin).
The reason it's all so good for your skin? Well

OCC Pigment in Clove Review

I feel like I don't talk about this product enough, it is one of my favourite loose shadow products but it always gets just nudged out of the number one spot - which is really unfair because it is STUNNING!
This is one of the only products that I have ever seen in a youtube video & then instantly bought. Okay that's not true but it is one of the only makeup products I've seen in a makeup tutorial & then instantly bought. That is how stunning the colour is.
So why doesn't this eyeshadow get the number one place?

Spoonie Posting: Hand Tremors

This isn't really a post so much as a whinging fest...
I have developed hand tremors. Not all the time - it's just when I'm really tired - but it's horrible & I have no idea how to cope with them.
Amazing Necklace from ThePaperPoppyStore
Does anyone have any advice on how to cope with tremors? Is there anyway to make them go away? How do you button things up or apply eyeliner/mascara while your hands are shaking? How much does it effect electric wheelchairs? Is it worth telling my doctor?

Beginners Makeup Kit Part 1 - The Basics

Beginners makeup kit...this is a video I've been wanting to do for a long time but I never felt confident enough to do it before. Well I've done it now & it's going to be a two (maybe three) part series...this is the basics - concealer, sheer lipstick, eyeshadow, mascara & foundation.
No brushes (I really don't think you need them to start with) & it's all very basic & approved of by my mum who is also a total makeup newbie. There are alternatives for all the products mentioned in the video in the read more.

Fashion Post Friday

Hi guys, I really don't know what to call outfit posts (what are you supposed to call them, is there a naming convention I have failed to pick up on?).
But as you can see this out fit is pretty simple, a jumper from my sale shopping, a check shirt, a skater skirt, tights & boots. I wear outfits like this ALL THE TIME, it's comfortable, simple whilst looking put-together & pretty...we all have go to outfits like this.
You may notice however that I have on quite a lot of belts

Christmas Sales Haul

I'm not sure if I mentioned already but I have been taking full advantage of the sales & so I did a sale haul.
This video is an edited highlight of my sales shopping as I am sure to take advantage of the continuing price reductions (particularly as some of my clothes are so big now they are - honest to goodness - falling off me....it's marginally obscene...
Right, the video, that's after this post jump, I'm sick of clogging up my 'recommended posts' bar with thumbnail images that won't show up properly :)

Mum's Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

I have seen far too many healthy recipes being posted for the new year. Have you guys seen the weather outside? It's hideous out there & 'healthy food' is not what you are in need of to cope with the 'back to work blues'.
You are going to need something like this. These cookies famously caused a minor riot at a school bake sale - which says a little more about my school than my cookies - but these are pretty amazing. They are a little bit of a family secret which have been getting better & better with time
I wish I knew where my mum got this recipe from but it's been through so many versions at this point that you probably wouldn't be able to recognise the original anyway....

Review - Best of Therapie

I LOVE the Therapie range. Roques O'Neil - founder of the brand & world leading aromatherapist - has become one of my favourite people because of the effectiveness of these products & I thought I'd share with you guys how much I love them.
I have already reviewed the Therapie Himalayan Bath Salts - which is the brand's iconic product - but today I will review two products that I love even more...the Boost Hair & Body Wash & the Aura Restore Spray.

Boost Hair & Body Wash

If the Himalayan Bath Salts put you to sleep, this is what wakes you up. It is my hero product for days when I need to be up & about but haven't slept, for days when I am zoned so far out that I can hardly see & for those days in the dead of winter when the lack of light won't let your body believe it's day. Apparently this is because it naturally boosts circulation & opens your airways....

Sequins

My new years resolution was to do a fashion post a fortnight & I am getting on top of that as much as possible. My aim is to have 'fashion Friday' posts every week...this is the first one I guess.
Thank you to Alexandra from Into the Woods for her advice on taking outfit photos I the wheelchair, it has really helped & made a huge difference to my confidence. I actually feel pretty in these pictures....and I only had to get my brother to take 10-15 pictures - rather than the 20-30 unusable photos I usually end up with. Not that these match up to the quality of picture on Into the Woods but they are good enough for me.
Oh, yeah....the skirt. It's awesome isn't it? Part of my 'getting-out-of-my-fashion-box' resolution...I loved it but I hummed & harred for so long it was out of stock. Thankfully Ruche got it back in but I spent a good week kicking myself for being a colossal idiot.
They really are out of stock now but this one is kind of similar - now Christmas is over there are slim pickings in the sequined fashion department...

Favourite Fashion Blogs

One of my New Years resolutions was to do more fashion posts.
I've not exactly been good with the fashion post. Honestly I've not exactly been good with fashion full stop. I have been wearing 'easy'/comfortable clothes for so long that I'd forgotten why I used to love getting dressed.
So: New Year, New Beginnings & I am working a lot harder at enjoying fashion the way I used to & for that I need inspiration. I'm not the girl I was last time I wore clothes for fun & the style I had then would look silly now. There may not be many wheelchair fashion bloggers but there are hundreds of thousands of other fashion bloggers & I thought that it made sense to start my fashion resolution by talking about the fashion bloggers who are inspiring my new style.

Creativity in Doses: Hannah has the most stunning, effortlessly elegant style. This is the style that I love the most, casual but lovely. It's like someone took that casual student style & then omphed it up so that it wouldn't feel out of place at fashion week...you know what I mean?

Favourites of 2013

I love these 'Favourites of the Year' videos, they were a big thing last year & I am clinging to them. I think it's a great way to go into the new year. This is mine
In the video I talk about all the beauty products that I adored last year. The rest of my favourites are in this post & it is going to be extensive.
