Spring Trends for Wheelchair Users - Monochrome

* Cropped Polka Dot Skirt * White Polka Dot Jumper * Tribal Print Monochrome Dress * Black Polka Dot Jumper * * "Dressed To The No9s" T-Shirt * Black Square Print Dress * Striped Skirt * White Polka Dot Shirt Dress *
* Full Black Midi Skirt * 20's Style Monochrome Dress * Square Print Mini Skirt *

I have dropped 2 dress sizes since last Spring & my clothes from last year DO NOT FIT but I am really, really struggling with Spring fashion...
I think I always do....it's just not a season that works with my style. Spring is always about two main trends - monochrome & pastels - neither of which really work with my style. I usually work out how to rock Spring trends just as Summer starts lol
Anyway, I have decided to make spring style really work for me this year so I am going to go through the two big spring trends & come up with ways to make them work in my wheelchair...

February Favourites

Does anyone else think that February looks weird as a word? Here is my February favourites video...it's pretty random but the products are really good & work even when I am flaring....some especially when I am flaring

Vanilla Bourbon No-Churn Ice-Cream with Gingerbread Cookie Dough and a Maple Ripple

How do people take good photos of ice-cream?!?
Please forgive the ridiculousness of this recipe, it was dreamed up in the midst of a crazy fog of exhaustion & pain. All I could think about was raspberry ripple ice-cream with maple syrup instead of cheap raspberry jam. Slowly, over the course of many days obsessing, that simple concept grew to encompass bourbon & gingerbread cookie dough. I thought it was going to be too much when I first made it - I thought no-one would be able to cope with it & that it would be crazy. It actually works better together than you would think...although the bourbon is probably optional.

Technically this isn't an ice-cream, it's a Semifreddo which is a kind of frozen mousse thing from Italy. It's also the best way I have found of making great quality ice-cream without an ice-cream maker (I actually have an ice-cream maker but when I wake up on a morning with an overwhelming need to make ice-cream, the ice-cream maker is seldom ready).
Usually 'No-Churn' ice-creams need you to use condensed milk which, to my way of thinking, gives the ice-cream a marginally cloying texture &...I hate the taste of condensed milk okay? I just find it over powdering & gross. This has no condensed milk & just tastes like ice-cream (crazy vanilla bourbon, maple syrup ripple, gingerbread cookie dough ice-cream)

My Handbag Makeup Bag

I remember once in high school seeing a girl pulling a makeup bag as big as her head out of her bag & re-apply every scrap of makeup she was wearing...right on top of what she was already wearing. I have always been someone who applies makeup in the morning & doesn't really look at it again until I decide to take it off. I sometime put more effort in when I am wearing a red lip but basically I am very, very lazy. It's the illusion of makeup that I need not the actual coverage.
So it's pretty obvious that I've never had a handbag makeup bag before. In fact the last time I had a makeup bag was about three months after I discovered YouTube makeup tutorials, then my makeup collection out grew my makeup bag & started to cover my desk.
However I have decided that since I look really ill without makeup (mostly because I am really ill) I should probably start packing some makeup so I don't freak anyone out when my makeup wears off. This collection is probably going to grow, a LOT, but this is what I'm starting off with...

Sequined Leggings & a Viking Day Out

You guys may remember me talking about these leggings in my Christmas Sales Haul. I got them from French Connection during the sale (down from £120 to £36) & haven't worn them out much. Mostly because they freak my brothers out - they don't know how to deal with them...guys are so easy to unnerve lol. Anyway, I went on a 'day out' with my family on Friday (stupidly but I'll get to that later) & this is what I wore...

Spring Prom Outfit

Hi guys, so ModCloth contacted me last week to ask if I wanted to be involved in a campaign/contest where they send you the link to an item of clothing they would like you to feature in a Polyvore outfit collage.
I LOVE ModCloth, the clothes they sell are fun, vintage-y, unique & stunning! Mostly coming from independent designers, these are clothes you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. ModCloth is one of the companies on my list of the 5 companies I would most like to work with so you can imagine that I was super excited....I'm mid flare & I thought I had dreamt the email for days!

The concept behind this outfit is spring wedding or school dance...prom or something like...
The only piece I was asked to feature is the dress, the rest are all pieces (from ModCloth) that I think are stunning & would recommend anyway.
Although the dress is not to my usual taste it's actually growing on me...the flared skirt would work really well in a wheelchair & it comes in such a broad range of sizes that we could probably all get one! My problem with it is the high neck (which could totally be worked round). However at the end of post I'll include links to a few other ModCloth dresses that would work, if not with this outfit, for a prom or spring wedding...

Ways to Survive Symptom Flares

Via pinterest
This is, according to blogger, my 100th post & it seems only right that it be about what started this whole thing off, the debilitating crap-tastic-ness of an M.E. flare.
I know I have already done a video on this but one of the things about flaring is that they always manage to surprise you with new, even crappier symptoms that aren't fixed with your usual coping mechanisms....just me?

In the middle of playing endless mindless puzzle games on my iPad, gorging myself on ASDA's amazing fresh rice pudding & watching the ice skating in an attempt to numb my pain, I wondered what 'weird' coping mechanisms other spoonies have. So, without further ado:

@miss_practical sleeps with the fan on sunggled under a duvet (tried & totally recommend, however crazy eccentric you may feel) with an eye mask on...nail painting & word searches when she has energy

Raime from Uniquely Unable recommends tea, movies & ibuprofen

Vicky of around & upside down recommends low level internet activities (twitter, pinterest etc), audiobooks, box sets & trash tv. Also TENs machines, hot baths & hot water bottles for the pain

Favourite Fashion Books

I am a through & through geek & when I am into a subject I do research & by research I mean I read books...so it is kind of unsurprising that I have a collection of fashion books.
The fashion in books is very different to the fashion that appears in magazines & in ad campaigns simply because of the nature of the medium. The fashion in book form is more...timeless? simply because otherwise it wouldn't sell & it is also more abstract...it's not selling the idea of a specific outfit but the idea of a way of dressing & - in the case of the books I prefer - a place & a way of life.

So, I think my favourite favourite book is

Aurelia Cell Repair Night Oil

When I am feeling especially ill my skin really suffers. Not just because I am feeling ill, or because I have a temperature or toxin build ups but also I forget to do my skincare (or am to tired to do my skincare). As you can imagine, after 2+ weeks of nasty symptom flaring my skin should be really, really bad but it isn't & that is 100% because of this product.
I have to be honest & up front; I did not pay for this product, I won it in a giveaway on Caroline Hiron's blog & - although I will give it the same review I would for any other product - I may be a little biased in it's favour.
That being out of the way, I just want to tell you about this product...

So, valentines day is coming up....apparently. I've actually never done anything for valentines day so it's kind of a non entity in my life....I had actually forgotten it was coming up until House of Fraser launched this competition on their blog. You create a valentines day outfit on your blog, leave the link on their page & you could win £100 in House of Fraser vouchers.
I thought it sounded a lot of fun & a great way to do a fashion post when I am honestly still too ill to do anything much....
