Best Mascara Ever?

Words cannot describe how much I love this mascara. I have literally only just to say got this mascara & I already have so many good things to say about it. I have NEVER had lashes look like this!

I know I said that words cannot describe my love for this mascara but I'm now going to have to try - this would be a useless review otherwise...
Okay, so.....mascara.

Wheelchair Fashion: 1920s Grunge

Okay, so I LOVE this dress. It's from ModCloth & it makes me think of the 1920s...but it's so much better than those shift dress 1920s style dresses you see a lot of. I can't be the only one who thinks that are crazy unflattering... Anyway this dress is THE cutest thing!
So obviously, my first instinct was to shove on a biker jacket.

What's in my bag? video

I cannot believe I never filmed one of these before. Actually that's not true. I never used to have a handbag before so this video would have been pretty difficult lol. When I started using a wheelchair it became really difficult to hold a handbag (anyone who has ever self-propelled will testify to this) & I already had enough problems with my school books on my lap. I DID NOT want to add to that with a handbag. And then when I couldn't self propel anymore, but still had a manual wheelchair, I would often end up with my mum's bag on my lap whilst she pushed me.
So...what I'm saying is that the handbag is new because of the added freedom my electric chair gives me.....end speech :)

Sephora Wishlist

Okay, I am probably the thousandth British beauty nerd to get over excited by the fact that Sephora is shipping to the UK. I have already made one order & am contemplating making another. Yes I am that sad. No I am not embarrassed.
So to try & defuse some of my Sephora obsession I thought I'd post a wishlist. These posts are great for my bank balance as I only ever end up getting one or two of the items I put on a wishlist....I don't know it's probably some kind of bloggers curse, one that totally works to my advantage.

Seriously though there are some awesome beauty bits & pieces available on Sephora & these are the ones I'm lusting over the most.

  1. Tarte 'Eye-ssentials' discovery kit: This kit is something I am definitely going to order.

What I've Been Reading: Black Dog

Hi guys. I know this isn't the kind of post I usually do but I have been reading THE BEST books recently so I thought I'd maybe do a mini series, do a few posts every so often reviewing the books I've been reading.
Okay so Black Dog... If you know the kind of stuff I like to read you would know that this *gestures to the book* is right up my alley. I LOVE urban fantasy but I find vampires over done & usually very dull. I like my urban fantasy interlaced with mythology, modern/futuristic worlds & magic. The three M s.

This book is SO cool as far as urban fantasy goes.

Spring Empties

Hi guys. This is actually a kind of weird video if you think about it..."Hi guys, let's go through my beauty related rubbish...this is going to be interesting." I actually love watching these videos, they are some of my favourite beauty videos. Mostly because everyone else has loads of really interesting empties. I don't have that many empties it I'm totally honest, most of them are skincare bits...although there are some other beauty bits. Video & links to the products mentioned are after the link.

Panasonic Retro-Style Headphones Review

I'm not a big audio-nerd. I think that is important for me to say right off the bat. I couldn't tell you with any authority what made good headphones good or anything technical at all about them really. However, I have had some really great quality headphones over the years & I know good headphones when I use them.
These headphones were bought in a rush - with a budget of £30 - when my old headphones broke. Honestly I didn't really know what I was getting into...I mean the reviews were positive but that doesn't always mean anything.
However, it seems that nearly 250 amazon reviewers can't be wrong...or at least they weren't in this case. These headphones are amazing!

Veronica Mars Marshmallow - Mexican Hot Chocolate

Hi there Marshmallows. How good was the Veronica Mars movie? Literally the first thing I did this morning was download it to my iPad...I've watched it twice already! I think I'll be watching it for the 3rd time right after I post this....lol.
Okay for anyone who has never seen Veronica Mars & has no idea what marshmallows have to do with Veronica Mars...watch it. Seriously though Veronica Mars fans are known as 'Marshmallows' because you know what they say about Veronica Mars, she's a marshmallow.
This may be a Veronica Mars fan-girl post but the recipe is seriously good. I felt like the best thing I could to mark the release of the Veronica Mars movie was come up with a Veronica Mars inspired marshmallow recipe. I'm not entirely sure why Mexican hot chocolate is what I ended up with...maybe something to do with it being sweet with a bit of a kick? Regardless this is what I came up with & they are majorly good, much like the film.

Collective Spring Fashion Haul

Gosh, what a terrible thumbnail...
I can't believe I didn't post this yesterday...I had truly blissful day reading the latest Mercy Thompson book cover to cover. Then I was lying quietly trying not to breathe too much - cause I'd used up too much energy, far too quickly - &  I guess I forgot. Totally worth it though! If I ever do a post about my favourite book series - which I think I might have to - you will find me waxing lyrically about the Mercy Thompson books...
Anyway, this is just a kind of oversized haul of all the totally random things I've been buying to fill up the very depleted spring wardrobe you have been hearing WAY too much about. Sorry about that. This is probably the last thing I have to say on the matter...
As always, the video is after the 'read more' link :)

Veronica Mars

Cast your mind back to 2007, the year Veronica Mars got cancelled. I was in Year 10 & had only just discovered Veronica Mars. I never really fit in at school; I was just too geek-y, too shy & too me.

Veronica Mars spoke to me unlike anything else. The characters were outcasts too but they had friends & they were appreciated for what they did. Plus, how cool were the things Veronica Mars said to the 09er losers? I used to watch episodes before I went to school to get me into the 'Veronica Mars' mind set. I'd spend the day with snappy retorts to people waiting on the tip of my tongue - I never got to use them but it made me feels much more bad-ass.

When I finished Season 3 & realised there were no more seasons coming it was kind of crushing. Season 3 hadn't been the best but it was still Veronica Mars & I knew there was better still to come. So many questions I still wanted answers too not least of which was what was going to happen next...

So now the Veronica Mars movie coming out I thought I'd do some Veronica Mars appreciation this week. There will possibly even be a Veronica Mars marshmallow recipe.... If you guys are really good :P

I had planned to leave you with a few of my favourite Veronica Mars quotes but really they are best in context. So instead, click through to see the movie trailer.

Review: Tanya Burr Lipglosses

Everyone says this but, Tanya Burr is one of my favourite youtubers. So when she came out with a range of lip-glosses & nail polishes I was obviously interested to try the products, instantly ordering 3 lip-glosses & a nail polish as soon as they came out.
So what are the glosses like?

Statement Basics

I love this outfit, it makes me feel like I'm going off to work at a fashion magazine or as a reporter covering fashion week...definitely smart casual fashion. If I had a 'traditional job' this would be the kind of thing I'd want to wear...it's so effortlessly cool....
Not extra-specially spring like but it's got all that mono-chrome feel going for it, plus a pastel under top....total spring appropriate..? I'll have worked out how to wear spring fashion by next time, I will have done.

Fritter Wednesday

We all know that today is pancake day, Shrove Tuesday...whatever. But did you know that in English farming tradition, tomorrow is Fritter Wednesday? No? Let me explain.
Traditionally the days before lent were associated with foods that you couldn't eat over lent & that would expire & be wasted otherwise. Collop Monday - eggs & thick cuts of meat, Shrove Tuesday, Fritter Wednesday & Bloody Thursday when black pudding was eaten. Obviously that's not such a problem these days as people don't do lent in the ways that it used to but I why not take the excuse of tradition to eat extra tasty fried food.

Now these fritters may not be super cute to look at but amaretto soaked nectarine 8ths, fried in thick, crunchy batter & dusted liberally with icing sugar....they are absolutely amazing tasting! Recipe after the link...

Spring Trends for Wheelchair Users - Pastels

* Pink Leather Jacket * Cropped Gingham Shirt * Cream Lace Skirt * Lilac Shirt Dress * Lace Back Henley Top *
* Cream Crochet JumperRose Gold Watch * Nude Handbag * Coral Midi Skirt *

Not my usual Monday post I know but all I can think about is Spring fashion (I went shopping on Sunday, looked everywhere & came away with 2 pairs of basic leggings...that's seriously it!).
Today I am going to finish my mini series attempting to understand spring style for wheelchair users. I may post a fashion wish list later in the week with bits from both trends....or I might not. We'll see :)

Pastels is a classic Spring fashion trend. I can't think of a year when it hasn't been THE big thing...
Seen as how it is 'THE big thing' it kind of covers all the other trends. Obviously everyone has their own opinions on what the trends are, but I think that they are graphic prints (like I said in the last post), sheer fabrics, lace, boxy crop tops & very full midi skirts.

It's not really to my taste but it can be worked round...mostly by careful usage of high waists & soft fabrics in skirts - I can't imagine many things worse than full midi skirt, in a stiff fabric, getting caught in the component parts of a wheelchair lol.

My favourite pastel item is this nude handbag from Zara that I actually already have (it was in my trench coat ootd) but I have to recommend it. It is the best way give a subtle nod towards pastel I have found, it is the best handbag I have ever owned & it is super cute, practical & really great for hanging off the arm rests of my wheelchair.

After that is probably the lace-y Henley top. I LOVE Henley tops, I think they are so effortlessly casual & are so great for layering or wearing casually on their own.... This Henley top is so cute & comes in so many lovely pastel shades, dually on trend.

I've been trying to avoid dresses (you just can't make as many outfits with a dress so they're not cost effective) so when I say that I may have to buy this shirt dress from ModCloth, know that I think it is something really special. Shirt dresses are such a staple because they can be smart or casual with minimal effort, plus this one is such a cute, vintage-y shape, adorable lilac pinstripe pattern & it's a great length for this season.
