Beauty Blender Starter Kit

So I got a beauty blender. I've been trying to work up to getting a beauty blender for ages. I'm pretty sure it's been at least a year but Marlena of Makeup Geek uses them all the time and she raves about it, plus the coverage always looks amazing. It's sooooo expensive for a sponge but I didn't want to get a substitute because everyone I've ever seen reviewing 'dupes' says they're not as good. Plus I was always worried about hygiene and keeping them clean. Finally though I saw that it had been in the Birchbox the month before I switched from Glossybox to Birchbox and I'd been having problems with brush marks on my face so I bit the bullet and bought it and I am so glad I did.

So I bought the Beauty Blender Starter Kit with the cleanser and sponge for £26 from http://tinyurl.com/c4xkab6. Obviously I love the sponge, it's the beauty blender you know? It gives amazing coverage, a great skin like texture and it is great for blending. The only thing I wasn't expecting is that it doesn't give the sheer coverage everyone suggested it did, or at least it doesn't for me. It looks like I have makeup on when I look in a mirror which with a huge amount of effort I could get rid of with my old application method (the real techniques expert face brush). Anyway it's a great sponge and it's my new go-to foundation application method.
However the really amazing part of this set is the sponge cleanser. OMG!
You know when you see most people's used beauty blender it is stained with gross foundation blotches and is just really yucky looking and not something you'd want to use on your face? Well this cleanser is really easy to use, smells gently lavender-y and completely gets rid of foundation stains. Even if I've forgotten to clean it after I used it and left it for a couple of days (I've not been wearing a lot of makeup recently) it gets the foundation of, no worries. And because you use the sponge wet anyway, I can wash it just before I use it which is great, it makes me feel so much better about the whole 'sponges can be really un-hygenic'. All in all I think it was probably worth the £26 price point and I love it and I cannot recommend the cleanser highly enough. I honestly don't think I would have enjoyed the sponge without it :)
