OOTD: Summer Victoriana
I am so sorry I have been neglecting you guys, it has been a crazy few days. Flaring + my mum starting to decorate my foster brother's room have combined to create a horrendous blend of craptastic-ness. I started filming 3 times before I gave up & I really tried to write but I guess I just needed a break.Anyway I'm back with an outfit of the day featuring my trusty parasol. This year has been so sunny & sometimes my skin just will not tolerate anything, including suncream...hence the parasol. It also looks really cool & fits in with my love of victoriana/steampunk fashion....
Yeah, the photo wasn't the best hence the bees.. Anyway we'd gone to the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens in Yorkshire - Harlow Carr. They have really good wheelchair access, lots of good mobility scooters avaliable for free rental & with £20 a year membership we can get basically everyone in for free (one person + guest & wheelchair user's companion goes free, as do kids atm). The only thing I struggle with is how posh some of the people there are, I often get a lot of dirty looks, seemingly wheelchair users aren't supposed to hang out where normal people go....so I always get dressed up so I don't care about the dirty looks :)
This look was kind of inspired my the parasol: pretty lacey peter pan collared top from George at asda to mirror the lace in the parasol, victoriana style boots from red or dead (which they seemingly don't do anymore, totally bummed) to keep the whole victoriana theme going. I added to that a nude maxi skirt from last year which I shortened & a tan lazer cut waist belt from next. I got a surprising number of compliments so I guess the outfit worked. That may just have been the parasol though. People really liked that...
Harlow Carr Gardens is really really beautiful & I had my camera so you now have to see all the photos I took & am proud of....ha! Your fault for sticking with me despite my extended break :)
