Wheelchair Fashion: Summer Sunshine

Wow, I really should wear lipstick when I take outfit photos, my lips look grey in these!
I took these outfit photos during the amazing weather we had last weekend. We went out for a morning picnic (which is the best time for me to do anything) & it seemed to be the best possible time to wear my tulle skirt again. I swear it was made for weather like this...it's light, pretty & makes me feel like I should be in some kind girly, 50's musical version of a summer picnic.

Please whilst I do a musical number....

* Hat: Similar Here * Necklace: LilyCharmed * Top: Similar Here * Skirt: Ruche * Shoes: Similar Here *
I have been wearing this hat for years, it's the only summer hat I've ever found that suits me & I love how country it looks.
This top was actually worn in one of my first YouTube videos (an ootd), more than 2 years ago. Considering I got it at George for basically no money I am very impressed with how well it's lasted.
I seriously can't believe how well this outfit works especially considering it was suggested to me by my mum....yeah I'm confused too. It's cute though isn't it?
I'm hoping for more good weather so I can try out more cute outfits like this.

If you are at all involved in the blogging world you will probably know that it is getting to award season & one of the awards currently taking nominations is the Cosmo Blog Awards.
If you feel like nominating me, my mum & brother have nominated me for best new fashion blog so that is what I am hoping to get (in fantasy land ^^). Anyway the link is here.
Obviously there are a lot of blogs out there way better than mine, so there is no need for you to nominate me for anything. The fact that you read the random stuff I post is more than enough.
Thank you ^^

  1. This is a lovely outfit! I absolutely adore collars. The one on your top is so cute! If my mum picked me out an outfit, I dread to imagine what I would end up looking like... Your mum did a great job though! x

  3. It's such a perfect outfit for the amazing days we had last week, it says summer in every detail! And I love polka dots. As usual, it's sunny and lovely when I have assignments and deadlines to deal with, but at least I enjoyed the weekend.

I tagged you in my last post (http://www.acolourfulmess.com/2014/05/23/tag-lip-product-addict/), hope you'll appreciate it! x

For my outfit photos I use my brother's old Canon 600D with the (awful) 18-55mm kit lens & for product photography I use the same camera with the 50mm 1.8 lens. I know it's a blogger cliché but I am a photography nerd & I love the range of settings available & the effects I can get with it....

  7. I can't believe I'd never seen your blog before :( It's going to quickly become one of my caves :D fashion, beauty and M.E. thrown in there, what more could a spoonie want?! I love that you do your outfits in your wheelchair, well people don't realise how much a wheelchair can affect your style.

How did you get your electric wheelchair? I had one before that I was donated (I got rid of it because I've been bedbound for 1 1/2 years and it wasn't getting used) but it was awful, the amount of times it didn't brake and swerved into the road was unbelievable! I really don't know how I didn't get hit by a car, that would've been fun on top of M.E. ;)

Being in a wheelchair changes what you can wear so much more than people think but they are so useful lol
I have my electric wheelchair on the Motability scheme which is for people receiving the highest mobility component of DLA or PIP, which I get since I can't walk 50m (between 5 & 7 metres at the moment).
I'm really lucky with my chair, she is wonderful. A little needy & temperamental but wonderful. Plus, being on the Motability scheme means I get repairs & breakdown cover & a bunch of other things for free so when she decides to do something stupid (like when ALL the internal electrics had a grump) I don't have to worry about the cost to get it fixed :)

  8. Thank you for sending me your blog link on twitter hun! Absolutely love this outfit and the sweet 50s vibe ready for summer! I really want to invest in a similar straw hat to yours for summer, love those items that are timeless and you can keep on wearing, that hat's a gem! So cute that your mum suggested this outfit, girl did good!
Looking forward to reading your future posts love!
