Wheelchair Fashion: Scarborough Day Out

Probably about two weeks ago (when it was really, really warm & the coast seemed like an amazing idea) my family went to Scarborough. Beachwear in Yorkshire usually involves jumpers, even in the middle of summer, so no bikinis & short shorts here. No practically sheer 'beach cover-ups' either.
The only real 'beach wear' options open to me then were boho or a classic Capri pants type look. This kind of supposed to merge the two...

The cute, boho/shabby chic style jumper is from George (who have some great stuff atm) & the pink jeans are from Zara & I've rolled them up to Capri length. My faithful gold ballet pumps & the awesome rainbow pastel sunglasses from the Blog Yorkshire goodie bag completed the look (I also had my handbag & camera but out of necessity not for looking good in pictures ^^).

I was kind of hoping the tide would be high enough that I'd be able to dip my feet in the water (it's been years) but the tide was going out when we got there & it had just passed the absolute maximum distance I can walk...ah well, I got to do cooler things :)

Alonzi's Harbour Bar is a Scarborough institution. It may not be Scarborough's best ice-cream (according to my Mum who grew up in Scarborough, she swears by Jaconelli's lemon tops), it is the most fun ice-cream.
The ice-cream parlour it's self hasn't changed since the 60s - as my Mum always reminds me - & is ALWAYS busy. Bright primrose inside the walls are covered in mirrors & the top panel is filled with faded signs that read things like 'Milkshakes are double goodness, ice-cream & milk' or the one above, 'get your vitamins the easy way, eat ice-cream every day'.

What is probably best about the Harbour Bar though is the sundaes, everything from Banana Splits & Knickerbocker Glories to Eton Mess or....I think pineapple sundaes! And they are branching out their food menus all the time. Next time you're in Scarborough make sure to put the Harbour Bar on your list of places to, it's not hard to miss. It's opposite the Harbour, near the lifeboat station & says 'Harbour Bar' on it in big red letters ;)

What's your favourite ice-cream sundae? I always go for strawberry ones (or maple/nut ones I guess) & my brother always picks the one with the most fruit. My chocaholic foster brother just picks the first one on a menu with chocolate in the title, whatever it is ^^ My mum usually abstains or at the Harbour Bar gets a lemon top but they've changed them into lemon twists now which she claims aren't the same.... I'm talking too much ;)

I love nut flavoured sundaes ^^ I particularly like that they give sundaes a bit of texture :)

  4. You look so pretty <3 I always layer up for the beach too, but then we went to the beach when it was snowing! That was an odd experience :P

Ah, the troubles of being a vegan and an ice cream lover :( no fancy ice creams for me, although the vegan ice cream we get from the supermarket is the best ice cream I've ever had ; )

    1. It sounds so much fun to see the beach when it is snowing. You always think of it during summer & that's when people usually go but it sounds much more interesting in bad weather :)
When I was trying to be dairy free (I didn't last long) ice-cream was the thing I missed the most, great vegan ice cream must be really helpful :)
