Wheelchair Fashion: Yorkshire Lavender

Hi everyone. How nice has the weather been? I actually have a touch of natural tan. How freaky is that? I've not had a natural tan since I was 10!
Anyway, yesterday we decided to make the most of the wonderful weather & headed out to Yorkshire Lavender which is this lovely lavender farm/garden near Castle Howard. I've been wanting to take pictures there for AGES, it couldn't be a more perfect background. The tea rooms there are also awesome, stay to the end for my review of that too ^^

I really didn't think this outfit had worked but I actually love how boho-y & country it looks ^^

I almost wish the light had been a little bit less strong & maybe cast shadows that were at least a little bit softer. Not that I'm complaining, nice weather is nice weather & it was a really lovely day. You can't believe how great the lavender scent was in the sunshine.
Anyway country girl boho ^^ So the point of this outfit was something to wear my hat with so my scalp didn't burn (cause that honestly does happen) & that had to be kind of country but I also think that to go with the lavender you either needed something that really contrasted with the lavender (so neons or maybe dark colours) or something that ties in & that's what this is - or at least I hope it is.

So I promised you a review of the tea rooms. Yorkshire Lavender has a lovely tea room where they have a lot of lavender flavoured deserts & drinks (and great sandwiches fyi). Whenever you go they have really great special menu items, last time I went they had the most amazing apple & thyme crumble. Anyway, this time it was a lot warmer so crumble wasn't really on the menu lol.

My mum got this lavender ice-cream with warm lavender shortbread (and the stunning lavender syrup you can see in the picture. I did have a little bit & it was super tasty & really delicately floral.

My brother has this ice-cream sundae with lavender ice-cream, honeycomb, berries, nuts & whipped cream....plus a wedge of shortbread. I didn't get a taste of it but I hear it was good. How it could it help being good with that combination of ingredients?

My foster brother who is a chocoholic got this chocolate fudge cake. When I was about 10 all I would order for desert was chocolate fudge cake so I can say with some authority that this chocolate fudge cake was a really good one with lovely fudge-y icing. A waste in a store with such unique deserts but if you have a chocoholic in tow this won't be a disappointment.

Saving the best till last ^^ I got this amazing lavender scone with a lavender blueberry compote & proper cream. I love scones & this scone was really good. I nearly cried when I was too full to finish it ^^

Yorkshire Lavender is a really lovely place to go. As a wheelchair user you are limited in the amount you can get around as it isn't paved & is very hilly but it is well worth going even if all you can manage is the tea room & the shop which has specialist herbs & flowers as well as lovely lavender goodies, jams, preserves, honey & even lavender honey beer.

  1. I've fancied going here for ages, and if your gorgeous pictures aren't enough to sell it, the tea room sure it! It all sounds amazing :)

    1. You definitely should go, the tea room is worth it even if it was raining or snowing or whatever else the Yorkshire weather decides to do ^^
I forgot to mention things like the lavender maze & the deer park (I can't really get to them & so they kind of slip out of my mind) but I probably should stop selling shouldn't I? Lol

    1. Thank you ^^ it is a really awesome place for a day out & insanely relaxing with all the lavender scent. I hurt so much less whilst I was out, I think as a combination of the lavender & the warm sunshine ^^

  8. I love the photos! You have a really good eye for photography. That photo with the lavender in the foreground, and you in the middle but still the focus on you... I'm trying to figure out how to take shots like that.

Despite having lived now too far from it Castle Howard has always just been a very good spot on Yorkshire Monopoloy to me. :) Thank you so much for your lovely comment on my pixie cut. In terms of styling with it, I am all about the matt clay. Just a tiny pot of that lets me mess around with it a lot, just little things like flicking it out at the bottom or sweeping it all to one side are easier.

    1. Thank you ^^ Mostly shots like that take a lot of practice, a carefully lined up autofocus & a low f number. I did about 20 of those before I got it right ^^
