IMATS - my experience & haul

This is the last time I am going to talk about IMATS honest. Last year when I went to IMATS I was really starting to realise that my illness is degenerating & I was honestly doing less & less. I was scared to make things worse, I felt like it wasn't worth taking risks. Then I went to IMATS having planned for about six seconds (I decided to go 2 days before IMATS) & IMATS was amazing. It honest to goodness changed everything about the way I deal with being ill. Every risk I've taken, every event I've been to, every time I've left the house after 6pm...all of that can be attributed to IMATS. That first IMATS meant the world to me & every IMATS will be a confirmation that there are risks worth taking & that I have to live my life whilst I still can. So that's why I have not shut up about it.
So anyway, I went to IMATS on Saturday, did a lot of shopping & saw some really interesting talks...the things you do at IMATS.

Sunday Post: Spoonie Planning + Bacon, Apple Muffins

IMATS Spoonie Event Clutch Bag Essentials
You guys know I went to IMATS yesterday. Well even for a perfectly healthy person IMATS is a tiring event. It's just so busy (there is a quiet area up at the top so it's not impossible) but it really is busy & load &....difficult. Add to that a 7hr round trip you can imagine that attending involves a LOT of planning. And careful packing.
Following are my top tips for surviving an event like this that will just EAT energy/spoons.

Wheelchair Fashion: Mint & Floral Semi-Casual

Wheelchair user wearing next jeans and taylor swift keds.

I really need to get better at writing the random information you add into wheelchair fashion posts, I always feel super awkward....does anyone really read this stuff?

Anyway, I took these photos yesterday in York (if you look close you can see the shaken & slightly battered look in my eyes after ALL THOSE COBBLES!!!!). York has a food festival on at the moment & I was really happy to be able to go to a food festival during the week when it wouldn't be so busy. Unfortunately because it was during the week & therefore not so busy the food festival wasn't as interesting as I'm sure it would be on a weekend or possibly even today. Today however I am resting ready for IMATS ^^

IMATS Tag

IMATS Tag Photo from IMATS London 2013
Image from last years IMATS post
With IMATS (the international makeup artist trade show) coming up this weekend I am getting kind of over excited....I'm pretty sure this will be the last year I'm going to be able to do this ^^ Anyway I noticed this Tag on Chocolate & Lipstick & I thought it would be a super fun way to get pumped for IMATS ^^

1. Which IMATS are you attending?

London 2014 IMATS that's coming up this weekend. I'm going on the Saturday - a.k.a. the best day to go when everyone is there & none of the stalls have started to run out of stock.

2. Have you ever been to IMATS before?

I went to IMATS last year - the post about it is here - & had an amazing time but I was really too shy to talk to anyone.

Baracoa House of Fashion Event

Lozzy Loves Lippy, Me & Laura's friend Andrea (Thank you for hanging out with me you guys) image via baracoa
On the last Friday of last month I went to Baracoa & House of Fraser's House of Fashion Event.
I don't know what I can say about this event to explain how our of my comfort zone it was & how totally worth that discomfort it was.
Even before I got ill I had never been out to the city centre at night, particularly not on a Friday night. I had never been in a club & I have haven't been to a bar since I was 17. So 6 days before my 21st birthday I was heading to my first night out to hang out with other bloggers....

Wheelchair Fashion: Blue & White Summer

As I said last summer, blue & white floral dresses are a bit of a staple for me. As I said in that post - & later in my favourite fashion books post - I have learnt from books that white dresses with small blue florals are timeless. I have yet to be proved wrong.
This dress is actually a much better length for the wheelchair than my last one as it is below knee length & has a really full skirt. You can't see in these pictures but it is a kind of 50's style dress with a crossover strap detail at the back.
Honestly sat down those kinds of details are largely irrelevant to me but it is actually quite cute.

Crabtree & Evelyn Handy Tips Event (And mini brand review)

Wow I am super late with this post, I managed to get it done in less than a month which is pretty good going considering how crappy I've been feeling lol.
Okay so about two weeks ago I got to go my very first blogger event - which was super cool - run by the lovely people at Crabtree & Evelyn for their 'Handy Tips' event.
The 'Handy Tips' event is based around the concept of passing down knowledge & beauty advise through the generations & generally about being part of a beauty community I guess. In each store they have like a huge cardboard tree & you can write a tip on a leaf which gets stuck to the tree and then you get £5 voucher & entry into some big prize draw for a family photography experience.

Lip Product Addict Tag

Lipsticks were the first makeup products I fell in love with. Red lipsticks mostly. It kind of spread from there though until the point now where I have a whole draw of lip products..... I kind of feel like this tag was made for me. And I was actually tagged & everything! The lovely Lindalgirl from acolourfulmess.com actually tagged me when she did this tag.
This tag was actually invented by EssieButton & AmeliaLiana in a YouTube video & has kind of developed into a blog tag too.

Question 1: Favourite balm/treatment

Wheelchair Fashion: Parisian Basics

Everyone has a favourite style, something that they admire in outfits & attempt to emulate. For me that is....simple? Classic?
I like outfits that are minimal but also beautiful; a combination of elements that work together so well it looks organic, like the outfit just happened the way flowers & mountains & trees just happen. Yeah, I know, aim for the impossible why don't I but that is what I like...
When I talk about that kind of style I call it Parisian - effortless Parisian chic...
Honestly, that kind of style is difficult for me to achieve in my wheelchair. Possibly because I am still learning the ropes but honestly? I think it's more than that. In a wheelchair there are no clean lines & I don't really know how to explain that statement right now (I'll probably do a more detailed post in the future when I have more energy) but believe me when I say sitting down can take an outfit from "OMG" to "ehhh, it'll do" faster than you could possibly believe. The simpler the outfit the faster it happens.
My way of getting around it, the way that I think is working for me, is investing in my basics. Making sure that the fabric is as nice as possible so that - even when I am sat down - the fabric hangs nicely.

Over-night Skin Saviours

Some things are worth investing in: leather jackets, good wool coats, wheelchairs, camera lenses and skincare. Perhaps not in that order but I am standing by that list (with the possible addition of makeup brushes & good quality bras...but they're alternates, they didn't make the squad.)
So, now you know my priorities in life I should probably tell you about this trio of products. The combination of these three miracle workers have kept my skin amazing & velvety smooth for a whole month (which has like, NEVER happened before).

Sunday Post: Events & their Consequences

I was a very lucky blogger this week, I got to go to TWO blogger events. My first two ever, both in one week. As you can imagine my M.E. wasn't especially happy about this & has been making me pay but it was SO worth it.
The first event I got to go to was the Crabtree & Evelyn #crabtreehandytips blogger event on Wednesday in the store they have in Victoria Quarter. I have SO much to tell you guys about this event but I'm going to hold as much of it in as possible for the blog post (coming soon) but lets just say that I have developed a huge obsession,
